Update-a-rama

The shortbread has been baked and is ready for distribution. Jeremy bakes exactly once a year and it is definitely worth the wait. He is something of a fussy baker (organic butter, King Arthur flour, absolute precision) and he managed to do it while watching three boys while I was typing away trying to finish a brief. This shortbread is his best batch ever. I hope my brief is as successful.

Last Friday I sewed like a madwoman to finish the birthday gift apron. I was frustrated in my efforts by the Clover tube turner thingy. It would grab the fabric just long enough for me to get the fabric tube (the ties) halfway rightside out and then give up. This happened at least four times a tube. I hate it when you think a little gadget is going to solve a problem only to have it create more problems. Despite the Clover-induced delay, the apron was finished and delivered. It was made to match the twin bibs as this three-year-old is their big sister. She was sweet and put it right on and wore it over to her grandmother's where she was, coincidentally, going to bake cookies.

Here's the embroidery:

Finally, the other big news around here is that we are fixing our bathroom. It had water damage when we bought the house (we were led to believe it was old water damage - nope still a very active leak thank you very much) and we are finally fixing the wall and the flooring. It also needed new paint. If you are going to do all that, could you possibly let the balls of doom continue to provide inadequate lighting?

Aren't they something? Today a lovely bathroom fix-it man took them down and we are going to have normal lights, the kind you won't hit your head on as you try to dry your hair, installed instead. I should get a close up of that towel holder, it's a beauty too.

Great apron! Those girls must look adorable together! Tell Jeremy that I'm much impressed with the shortbread too. Today I'll be getting my candy craft on... truffles, peanut butter cups and marbled mint candy. If things don't turn out too disastrous, maybe I can send some your way :-)
