I'm back

Which one of these is not like the other?

Wow, that was an intense little holiday/brief writing extravaganza. I had great plans to write an end of the year review letter, but at this point I have lost interest in 2005. We managed to pack in something like seven holiday visits with our family and friends during a whirlwind forty hour visit to our hometown. Once we made it through that experience we came home to have a quiet Christmas just the five of us. Edited to add: There is nothing quiet about three little boys and tons of presents and wrapping paper strewn about. It was quiet in that we had no guests; thus, we were free to remain in our pajamas all day long.

Each of the boys received a handmade scarf/hat set in KU colors from my friend Megan. They had a great time wearing them around Christmas morning. I had to collect the scarves and hide them because I was afraid Jack was going to strangle himself while I was busy being distracted by the remaining Christmas candy. Dana makes a mean peppermint bark.

Brennan received his Kids Knitting book and knitting needles with a glimmer of excitement. I don't think he actually opened the book, but he didn't throw it down in disgust either, so I think there's the possibility of some mother-son knitting in the future. Marshall wants us to make his bear a scarf, so that might be our first project.

Brennan actually smiled when he opened it, that's something, right?

I started working on a new pair of wrist warmer/mitts, only to run out of yarn last night while I was trying to keep from watching The Bachelor (in Paris! With a real ER doctor! In a real castle!). Running out of yarn wouldn't be a big deal except my beloved yarn shop no longer carries it and I was told it is no longer produced. I should rip it out and use that bit for a bear scarf, but it's so disheartening to rip something out when you are so close to the end. Oh well, it could be Brennan's first knitting lesson: sometimes you screw up and have to rip out - a lot.

TYCGHST is underway. I think I've convinced my mom to start her own version. So far I have scheduled medical appointments like a madwoman, asked for a raise, and started to plan my running goals for the year.

More soon.

How exciting that the peppermint candy has claimed an honorable mention in your journal! your boys look great in all their matching pjs/hats/scarves :-) I hope that Brennan decides to take up some knitting; I'll be looking forward to his creations too!
