Lace Mitts

I started these last January as a gift for a friend's mother. I finished them yesterday. That's nine months between you and me, with an actual knitting time of less than 8 hours. So, I averaged a little less than an hour a month on them - pitiful.

Finishing them was a challenge as it was, I wove in the loose ends while standing at the kitchen counter and helping to stir potato soup while children in various stages of sickness wandered in and out of the room with their trucks, trains, and other implements of destruction.

Sorry I don't have a pic of them on my hands, but have you ever tried to take a picture of your own hand? That, and the Hand Model Union of America would lodge a formal complaint-these hands are good for knitting, but not so much for modeling.

They turned out a bit wonky, the right mitt is a bit off somehow and I can't quite figure out what happened. This was my first experience with lace and despite the wonkiness, it was so much fun. I think I will keep these and make a new pair for the intended recipient now that I know what I'm doing. I've been wearing them as I worked on the computer this morning and the yarn is soft and warm, and the mitts stay out of my way as I click and type the day away.

The specifics: This pattern, which was very easy to use and Miracle yarn, by Classic Elite. Miracle is 50/50 alpaca and tencel - I think of it as the poor woman's cashmere. It substituted nicely for the recommended Mongolian Cashmere.
