Apron Action

I was inspired by Tie One On to make this apron for my little kitchen helper. The inside is lined with the Little Buckaroo fabric, the front is denim, and it has horseshoe fabric ties. It took me well over an hour to turn those ties right side out because I had stupidly sewn one end shut like the pattern told me to and could not use the Clover fabric turner I had purchased to avoid wasting my time turning it by hand. Grrrrr.

Son2 always asks if he can help me in the kitchen, so I embroidered his favorite saying on the bottom of the apron. I had never embroidered freehand before, I found it strange that it still looks like my handwriting even though I did it with needle and thread. I used the blind hem foot for the topstitching as recommended in this book, and it worked like a dream! My stitches are usually all over the place and this made it so much easier.
Psst - You probably already know this, but if you click on the picture it will enlarge it so you can see the joy that is straight topstitching. Now, is that straight or what?
