Sears circular

A few months ago I was inspired by this lovely book to experiment with french seams so I made a skirt out of some wild vintage fabric that had belonged to my great-grandmother. I couldn't tell if the design was Cabbage Patchesque "It's so ugly it's cute," or if it was actually appealing in its own right. So, there I am wearing the skirt that looks like it was made from a tablecloth and my nametag like the dork that I am because I forgot to take it off after our friends' (Hi R&D!) wedding reception.
At this point you may be wondering where this story is headed, so I will end the suspense. I was flipping through the latest Sears circular when I spotted none other than this tablecloth fabric reinvented into a snappy trench for the twenty-first century woman on the go. There are a lot of vintage fabrics out there, this is the last one I would have ever expected to be resurrected into an even larger print. Who would have looked at this composition and said, "It's great, but I think the yellow flowers are too staid, we need to super-size the whole thing for the Fall '05 collection."
Behold:

Click on that bad boy if you want to see it in all its glory. 40% Off too! I know you'll be running, not walking, to your nearest Sears to get one of your very own. A bargain at half the price, as my father would say.
